A number of constituents have written to me
regarding the welfare of grey squirrels.
All wild life deserves to be treated wherever
possible in a kind and considered way. There are of course exceptions such as
the eradication of vermin.
Careful consideration must be given around the grey
squirrel. This non-native species has multiplied into large numbers throughout
the UK and has driven out the smaller native red squirrel. Other species are
also impacted such as ground nesting birds.
